HELLO! This is the palette everyone is kinda going on and on about!
Ben Nye is a company which makes theatrical makeup and it has a well-established market presence in the makeup industry.
Since the day I'd purchased the Ben Nye Final Seal (makeup sealer), I've been so impressed by its quality and performance that I decided to take a deep dive into the beautiful products of Ben Nye!
I'd been saving up for the infamous Ben Nye Lumiere Grande Palette for a month actually and finally bought it from Facepaint UK for £59 plus p&p. Yay!
I would have to say that this palette is A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!! This palette deserves all the raves it gets.
The actual palette looks like a water color case, comes with 12 delicious satiny/frosty (not matte) eyeshadows, really vibrant colors. The eyeshadow pans are snapped into the bottom of the case and are covered with a plastic cap to prevent spillage. The pans pop out and can be replaced with refills pans.
The shadows have a very soft texture, pigmentation is fabulous, they go on really well and blend so easily. There isn't much fall-out either. The shadows lasts all day for me. Doesn't crease or fade!
The shadows can be used wet for creating a fab metallic look, or dry for adding a nice sheen to the eye look.
Tip- Always use an eyeshadow base underneath to prevent eye staining!
The eyeshadows have a slight theatre-like makeup smell to them but nothing overpowering, and for the price the quality is really superb!!
However, there are a few things that I am sort of cringing about - the palette lacks a matte black shade for contouring, it comes with a brush which I'd to throw away coz it sucks! All the shades are shimmery so if you like your matte shadows then this is not the palette that you should be going for.
Take a closer look at all the shades:
Top Row- Ice, Aztec Gold Silver; Bottom Row- Iced Gold, Tangerine, Chartreuse.
Top Row- Azalea, Cosmic Blue, Sun Yellow; Bottom Row- Jade, Amethyst, Cosmic Violet.
Check out the swatches (swatches taken dry, without an eyeshadow base):-
L-R: Iced Gold, Tangerine, Chartreuse, Jade, Amethyst, Cosmic Violet, Ice, Aztec Gold, Silver, Azalea, Cosmic Blue, Sun Yellow.
Ice Gold- a sheer pale yellow gold, it's the least pigmented of all the colors, could be used as a highlighter.
Tangerine - a subtle orange shade.
Chartreuse- a meduim grass green color.
Jade- It's a nice teal green color.
Amethist- a dark purple shade.
Cosmic Violet- Duo crome violet with blue undertone, reminds me of the MAC Stars and Rockets
Ice- Its a shimmery white colour.
Aztec Gold- a very pretty gold shade.
Silver- a metallic silver shade
Azalea- Hot red pink, reminds me of MAC Fuschia pigment
Cosmic Blue- it looks a lot like the Rebel Rock Blue pigment by MAC which came out with rebel rock collection some years ago.
Sun Yellow- Most pigmented bright yellow I have come across!
The quality of shadows in the Ben Nye Lumiere Grande Palette is as good as MAC, or even better! The eyeshadow amount that you get for the price is double compared to the MAC eyeshadows, which means that you're getting a greater value for your money!
So far I'm loving the Ben Nye Lumiere Grande Palette and will definitely be doing some looks in the future. If you like bright colours, go and get the Ben Nye Lumiere Grande Palette!!!
