Makeup Haul | Selfridges & Co

HELLO! I mentioned in my previous post (OOTD - All Black | London Trip) that I've recently been in London for makeup and non beauty shopping.

Selfridges & Co is a must-stop for me on every visit to London and it never disappoints!

Here are the damages done at MAC cosmetics, Estee Lauder and Christian Dior counters. Who would have thought doing damages actually felt so good? Except for my purse. Thank God purses don't bite. Phew.

I can't wait to try my makeup haul! I'll post a separate blog for these products very soon.

Eye's Chic Liquid Gillter Eye Liner/Eyelash Glue - A Dupe For MAC Liquidlast Eyeliner?

HELLO! I am sure most of you would've tried the MAC Liquidlast eyeliners and found them to be great in regard to staying power. I've tried the MAC liquidlast eyeliners and found them to be a must've product for special occasions such as weddings, parties or even for very hot summer days as these eyeliners DO NOT budge or fade away and stay put even in the most challenging weather conditions!

There is no doubt that MAC Liquidllast eyeliners fall into my top 5 eyeliners list but then I always try out new things and so I recently came across the Eye's Chic Gillter Eye Liner ($8.30) from KKCenterhk, which is supposed to be a black Eyelashes Glue (!!) and I accidentally discovered it had a great potential in becoming a cheaper alternative to the infamous MAC liquidlast eyeliners! Yes ladies, I'm SERIOUSLY impressed with the staying power of my newly acquired Eye's Chic Gillter Eye Liner!



I don't know why they have named it as a 'Gillter' eye liner, I suppose its supposed to to be a pun on the word Glitter as the word 'Gillter' is something I never heard of and I even did a dictionary search to no avail but then all said and done the product is great so I'll say all is well that ends well!

There is nothing fancy about the packaging, as it's basically simple, though I would've liked it if along with the name 'Eye's Chic', the bottle had some kind of description printed over it.

Below I've swatched my old favorite Miss Sporty Eyeliner along with the Eye's Chich Eye Liner. As you can see from the swatch the tip on the Eye's Chic Eyeliner is slightly wider in comparison to that of Miss Sporty. The Eye's chic eyeliner has a more shiny appearance and looks a lot more black & it's almost like a blackest black due to the higher intensity of black pigmentation in it.



The rubbing test- The eye's chic eye liner will stay on no matter how hard you rub! You can see from the above pic that my skin turned red from rubbing hard but I could not budge the Eye's chic eyeliner...it blows Miss Sporty eye liner out of water when it comes to staying power!

Eye's Chic eye liner also works great as an eyelash glue! I've tried it on my Revlon eyelashes and it holds the them right in place. So there you see, you can do two things with one - use it as a eyelash glue and also as an eyeliner!

What I dislike:
Again it has to be the staying power as this eyeliner as it's a pain to remove and you need to use a strong make up remover for it. I won't be using it as an every day eyeliner as I do not want my skin around the delicate eye region to develop pre-mature wrinkling due to regular pulling, peeling and tugging to remove the eyeliner!

Overall I am chuffed to have discovered this little gem and will surely repurchase it in the future!

MY PEACHY INDULGENCE...

HELLO! Last week while returning home, I got this sudden urge to self indulge resulting in my going straight to the shopping mall where I ended up buying some makeup and stuff...

My inspiration for this week is peachy and sweet...and so I'm excited to share with all of you some of my latest peachy additions in makeup!

The first thing that I bought is the gorgeous Sleek Paraguaya Palette (Avior la Peche collection), a newly released limited edition eyeshadow palette from Sleek MakeUP which comes in a fabulous case and contains 12 peach-dedicated shades, all for a budget price of £6.49!



The texture of these shadows is lovely and smooth, all nicely pigmented plus some shades could also be topped as a blush colour, which is amazing! I would do an eye look soon with these as there are so many combos to try!



The second thing that I picked up from the NARS website is their single eyeshadow in Faith (£16.50). It's a perfect peachy golden color, sort of falls into the duochrome category.



This shade would look great as an all over lid shadow together with a burgundy/brown shade applied on the crease area. I would try it as a blusher on my cheeks as it reminds me of the infamous NARS Orgasm but it's a bit on the sheer side and has more of a golden tone to it.



My last makeup pick is the MAC Tinted Lipglass (£12.50) in shade Lychee Luxe. I just fell in love with this color as soon as I swatched it on my hands and there I was ready to stop swatching any other bright colors on my hand and instead chose to fully indulge in this peachy heaven!



Colorwise it's a perfect peachy pink lipgloss, neither too orange nor too pink. It has an amazing color pay-off and contains tiny specks of gold shimmer in it to offer a high quality shine on lips. I love how it just brightens up my whole face and it would look even more gorgeous with a bit of tan on!




So what have all of you been indulging in lately?

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Vs MAC Pro Longwear Foundation

A few days back I took a plunge and decided to get myself the latest offering from the range of MAC foundations - MAC Pro Longwear Foundation with SPF 10.

To cut the long story short, I'm just L.O.V.I.N.G this foundation!! I would even go further and say it's their product of the year! Its the best thing that MAC came out with during the whole year!

This foundation, I would say is being targeted towards a specific kind of audience, if you loved the Studio Fix from MAC you would also love this one! Pro Longwear is quite similar to MAC Studio Fix, however, there are also a few differences between the two lines, which I am going to list down below while comparing them.

So lets get started with my detailed comparision review between the MAC Pro Longwear and MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation:-

* Unlike the Studio Fix (SF), Pro Longwear (PLW) comes with a pump for easier and hygienic application, plus no chances of spilling it anywhere either, all thanks to the pump! (My rating: SF= 0; PLW= 1)
* Studio Fix has an SPF of 15 whereas Pro Longwear has an SPF of 10 in it to offer a little bit of Sun protection. (My rating: SF= 1; PLW= 0)
* Studio Fix stays put for upto 6 hours on me and after that it starts to melt off from my nose and chin and a little bit on the forehead area, whereas the Pro Longwear stays more than 10 hours on me which is the best part about it as none of the foundations I've ever tried has stayed that long on me, so it gets the points for long wearing!(My rating: SF= 0; PLW= 1)
* Studio Fix is not very good at oil controlling and I have to blot every 3/4 hours to remove excess oil, where as the Pro Longwear is very good at controlling my oilies, with this I can go on without powdering for upto 7 hours and after which it starts to look rather dewy than shiny.(My rating: SF= 0; PLW= 1)
* I find Studio Fix to be great for flash photography however, the Pro Longwear casts a white shadow, but its not very visible to the naked eye.(My rating: SF= 1; PLW= 0)
* Pro Longwear is easier to blend in and takes longer to set, I can have my sweet time to play with it before it completely sets on to my skin. The Studio Fix however, needs a bit more effort with blending and dries (sets) very quickly, it doesn't let me play as much with it and I have to work very fast to avoid it from getting streaky.(My rating: SF= 0; PLW= 1)
* Studio Fix gives a higher coverage than the Pro Longwear foundation and I love high coverage :D(My rating: SF= 1; PLW= 0)
* Pro Longwear is more transfer resistant than the Studio Fix.(My rating: SF= 0; PLW= 1)
* Studio Fix gives a matte finish to my skin where as the Pro Longwear gives a satin matte/dewy finish.(My rating: SF= 1; PLW= 1)
* Studio Fix has an alcohol smell whereas the Pro Longwear doesn't smell bad at all!(My rating: SF= 0; PLW= 1)
* Studio Fix is more suitable for people with normal to dry skin whereas the Pro Longwear is more suited for normal to oily skin.(My rating: SF= 1; PLW= 1)
* Studio Fix gives a full but natural looking coverage and also minimised my pores to a great extent, whereas the pro Longwear can look slightly cakey/blotchy if layered on heavily and can escentuate the dry patches and pores on skin. (My rating: SF= 1; PLW= 0)
* Studio Fix feels quite heavy whereas Pro longwear feels lighter on my skin.(My rating: SF= 0; PLW= 1)
* Studio Fix foundations offer a great color selection, it comes in 26 shades, whereas the pro Longwear comes in only 16 shades.(My rating: SF= 1; PLW= 0)
* The NC shades of Studio Fix have more yellow pigments in them and hence suitable for people with yellow skintones whereas the pro Longwear has more beigy tones in it which is great for people with less yellow undertones.(My rating: SF= 1; PLW= 1)

So, do we have a clear winner over here? On a score of 15, I have given the MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation 8 marks and MAC Pro Longwear 10 marks! Therefore the Pro Longwear WINS the battle against Studio Fix by just 2 marks!!

Both of them are great foundations from MAC and I love the results everytime I use them so I am happy to include both in my makeup stash!
Next time I will try mixing both and see how it works when combined together and incase I find it working any better then I'll get this post re-edited :)

SOME TIPS (for both foundations): you can go one shade lighter while choosing your shade, the Titanium Di-Oxide content in the sunscreen of these foundations tends to get oxidized and make you look eventually dark. I love to use the Stippling brush with these foundations for an even, flawless look. Work in small sections, buff in the product well. Begin with very less, dot it on the skin and then stipple and swirl it using the stippling brush, you could then apply a second layer if you fancy more coverage.

MAC Liquidlast Liners, Awards and a few Nominations!

I have been eyeing on the MAC Liquidlast Liners for ages and a few weeks back I finally decided to treat myself with three of the 8 available shades in Liquidlast liners.

The colors I chose (Aqualine, Electrolady, Blue Herizon) are not the everyday colors and the reason I got these over the traditional Black and Brown are: I have got tons of black and brown liners, secondly I was bored playing around with plain black and other boring colors and wanted a bit of kick in my mundane eyelining routine, and thirdly these colors caught my attention immediately and I wanted them in my collection.

To start off with, I simply LOVE these colors and the lasting power of this product! These liners are so vibrant, funky, pearly, pigmented, attention grabbing and they make my eyes pop! The liners are smudge/budge/waterproof, I can shower or splash water on my face and still have a perfect eyeliner! I thought MAC Fluidlines worked well for me but these are better and those of you who end up with smudges from Fluidlines should definitely check out the Liquidlast liners.

Although there are a few issues with Liquidlast liners, the consistency is a tad bit gloopy, the liner brush is quite long and flimsy and the application takes a bit getting used to. Moreover, the Liquidlast liners comes with an industrial strength formula and therefore can be a pain to remove but I find the liners comes off easily with vaseline/ jojoba oil/oil based makeup removers.

MAC Liquidlast liners retails at £13 per 2.5 ml bottle and its a part of their permanent collection. Great enough!
