Sleek True Colour Lipstick / FOTD

HELLO! I'm loving these lipsticks from Sleek MakeUP! These are nicely pigmented, creamy, and affordable ( £4.99 each from SleekmakeUP website)! The packaging is elegant and the colour is long lasting, I can get around 3 hours wear before it starts to fade. There are 20 shades of these lipsticks and they are available in two finishes - Sheen and Matte. I have these lipsticks in shades ‘Barely There’ and ‘Fuchsia’, both have a sheen finish. I Love both shades!

I would wear the Fuchsia on a night out or during the evening and wear Barely There during the day as it looks so light and fresh, and looks gorgeous with dramatic eye makeup!

The Sleek True Colour 'sheen' finish lipsticks just glide on and have a waxy finish, nice and shiny but still very pigmented.

The texture of these feel very similar to the MAC cremesheens.

FOTD - I'm wearing the Sleek True Colour Lipstick in shade 'Barely There'.

I love these Sleek True Colour lipsticks and I'm going to the shops this weekend to purchase matte colours :)

Bobbi Brown Artist Palette For Lips - My Lipstick Heaven!

HELLO! I've a special knack for feeding into the frenzy of hyped up products. A few month back (6 months back actually... Gosh! I'm a bigtime slacker when it comes to posting up-to-date reviews) I gave in to the hype and ordered the infamous 'Mother of all lipstick palettes' - the Exclusive Limited Edition Bobbi Brown Artist Lip Palette, for £180 pounds from the UK website of  Bobbi Brown! Now that's really expensive and I really am not a luxury seeker but this palette nicely propelled me to explode my budget and boost my ego with this extravagant purchase....all thanks to my endless devotion for lipsticks and palettes ;)
But the big question here is - has this giant palette of Bobbi Brown Lipsticks ever got around convincing me that my extravagant indulgence and belief in the hype was worth it at the end? My answer is YES YES YES!! I'm thanking my stars for going all gutsy with this palette!

My Kryolan Mini Lip Rouge Palettes!

HELLO! Some of you might have wondered about my prolonged absence from the blog world and the reason for it was my being down with NASTY cough, cold and fever! I havent fully recovered yet but certainly feeling better and want to thank god that its almost over!

Today I am going to talk to you all about four of my Lip Rouge palettes from Kryolan, a professional makeup brand, which I purchased from an international Ebay Seller 4 months ago and since then been playing around with them a lot. The palettes I am showing in pictures are the older version while the newer versions carry a few extra colors in them and come in a more sturdy packaging.

These are a mini version of their Lip Rouges and normally come in a palette of 16 colors. I would say that these mini palettes are definitely a great way of trying and testing out different colors and if you love any particular color you can find out the Code of the color underneath and go and buy that particular color in full size.

Kryolan Mini Lip Rouge Palettes

These lip palettes come in variety of textures such as cream, glitter, pearl, and frost finish, and the color spectrum would vary from fantasy to bold to natural which means it's designed to suit everyone's taste and mood! An important thing that made me really go for the mini palettes is that these are ideal for traveling and touch ups!

From having and testing these palettes for a long period I can now say that I really like how they feel on my lips, they stay on for a very long time, feel quite moisturizing and do not dry my lips but there is one thing that I would like to point out though and it's the smell of these lipsticks, as they remind me of the smell of my grandma's lipsticks when I would secretly play with her makeup when I was a kid! That said, I don't find it overpowering by any means, as once I wear them on my lips, the smell fades away in a short while.

Below is the Palette no- L2. It has all the crazy fun colors that you can try out during parties and fun events!
Kryolan Mini Lip Rouge Palette No. L2

Palette no- LMP111. It's got some really nice pink, purple and maroon shades. Most of these shades look frosty on lips.

Palette no- LMP131-11. It contains some gorgeous shades of browns in it, most of them are creamy in texture.

Palette no- L9 for some lovely Browns and Reds! Click HERE so see me wearing the shade LC 101 on my lips!

I paid around 17 British Pounds plus p&p for each palette which is not too expensive considering
the fab quality and variety of colors it comes with, and if you are a makeup artist or a lipstick collector like me then you need to definitely check them out!

PROJECT - DIY Lipstick Palette

HELLO! For quite sometime I've been thinking of depotting my drugstore brand lippies as I've collected a lot of them over the last few months and they were taking up an ample part of my makeup storage...and today I finally plunged into the whole depotting ritual! Something I'd never tried before!

I used this transparent storage pallete that I bought at a craft store for my depotting mission...

My next step was to slice off the lipstick bullets from its base and depot them into the storage palette... I took the help of my good old kitchen knife for this task...but you could as well use a blunt spatula for this... or just use your fingers to break off the bullet if you aren't bothered at all ending up with greasy and lipstick-stained fingers :P

I decided to load each compartment with atleast two lipstick bullets as the size of the compartments were big enough to easily fit two lipsticks and as I'd already been wearing these lippies a lot before so there wasn't much left in them, plus I wanted to experiment and create some new shades mixing the existing ones :)

After completing the depotting the lipsticks, I closed the lid of the palette very lightly and placed it inside the microwave oven and heated it for about 3-4 mins after which the depotted lipsticks had melted into a liquid consistency.

I carefully took the palette out of the microwave and just before the melted lipsticks solidified, I quickly stirred them inside each compartment so that the shades blended well with each other.

And after stirring them up I closed the lid tightly and kept my lip palette inside the refrigerator to cool and solidify them completely and after about 5 minutes, my lip palette looked like this :-

Initially I was a bit worried about going ahead with such DIY lipstick palette projects as prior to this I was worried the lipsticks might go rancid or crusty and loose their creaminess and pigmentation so when I actually happen to apply these lipsticks on my lips I was pleasantly surprised to see how well they retained their pigmentation and glided over smoothly!

My DIY Lipstick palette gets a big thumbs up from me!! and well done to me for creating some more room inside my vanity case....now I can go out and buy some more makeup to fill in that space haha ;)

A word of caution- be very careful while microwaving lipsticks. Please read instrucions on using your microwave and take all neccessary precautions before attempting melting of your lipsticks! I melted them using a 1000 watt microwave under the 'medium setting' in other words at around 50% microwave power. This ensures the lipsticks melt in a gradual manner.

MAKEUP PALETTE LOVE - Laura Mercier Zen Face Palette

HELLO! Earlier this week I got hold of my Zen Face Palette from Laura Mercier which I bought from the House Of Fraser website for a bargain price of £20! I have to admit, I just adore this palette! It's wonderful for travel and so convenient for a put together, no-brainer look!

Laura Mercier Zen Face Palette

Zen Face Palette is inspired by a serene garden and comes with a selection of 4 eyeshadows, 4 Lip glazes and 1 coordinating Blush shade. It's presented in a sleek metal compact with a dark cobalt blue fabric top cover and features a good sized mirror inside the top cover.

Laura Mercier Zen Face Palette

It also comes with a transparent sheet with the names printed on top making it convenient to figure out what product is in it.

Laura Mercier Zen Face Palette

I really like it when a palette has the names of its product shades printed on it's back!

The eyeshadow colors are rather muted to give you that serene look when worn. Color payoff is good, though I would recommend using a good eye base with them to enhance it's color intensity. The shades are very buildable and have a semi-matte finish, with tiny specks of shimmer.
The Blush goes on smooth and the color can be easily built up for a desirable intensity.
The Lip glazes are pretty awesome! They are quite sheer shades with good color choices and look stunning on the lips!

Laura Mercier Zen Face Palette

However, I am having some reservations over this palette as it has creams and powders housed together.... using this palette in the long run would inevitably get some powders into the Lip glazes and make them look a bit messy... but it's not a serious issue for me...and I am all set to take this palette while I travel as it's such a stunning palette at a steal price!

THINK PINK!

Right now I am just thinking about Pink! No not the singer but the color! Well if you have been keeping track of the fashion and design world, you would know that PANTONE have officially announced PINK as their color for 2011 and as Pink is a classic favorite of mine I decided to dedicate it by renovating my blog with some shades of Pink! And so today's post is in honour of the color Pink!

So I start by talking about Illamasqua Loose Powder 005, which you all guessed is Pink colored, has been designed to brighten dull skin and make it look more healthy in appearance. If your skin has started to look a bit sallow, green tinged or yellow then this product will fix it! When applied on the skin, it looks translucent with no pink tones noticeable. One thing I like about it is that it's very finely milled due to which it does not look powdery or cakey on skin & also gets rid of shine so this is a perfect finishing powder to give you that airbrushed look!

Now let's move onto lip balms which right now are very much in use due to the wintery weather and the one I am gonna talk about is Eyeko strawberry fat balm! It is a dual action balm in form of adding color and shimmer to your lips thereby making them look pretty and also moisturising the lips and make them soft and supple! Plus it smells of strawberry...yumm! Add a little bit of the Eyeko Lipgloss in Primerose Hill on top and you will have lips to die for! The lipgloss is a pretty pinkish brown colour and the fine gold shimmer particles in it will make your lips dazzle with shine!

Next, the Nails Inc Instyle Candy Pink nail paint which is a lovely pink nail polish that looks great and wears well on any skintone!

Sleek Good Girl Palette is an ultimate palette to reach for if you are planning to give your eyes some serious pink makeover! It offers a lovely variety of pink shades that are sure to give your eyes a romantic look! A special thing about this particular palette is that you could use it as a blush and highlighter palette! Yes ladies! It works great as a blush and highlighter!! Now thats what I call a truely multi functional palette!

Onto the swatches!

Speaking of jewellery... here are a few pink ones from my jewellery collection that I absolutely love to flaunt on my ears!

Moving onto some hot pink shoes! These stylish peep toe heels are from brand F&F and feature a strip pattern on the front part, and have a 5 inch heel to them! Absolutely love them!

That's it for now my lovelies! I leave by just repeating two words - THINK PINK!

ILLAMASQUA LIPSTICK SERIES (Part 1 of 6)

Hey everyone!
Ever since Illamasqua was launched in UK I have been a fan of their products, especially their lipsticks of which I have collected more than 40 shades for a reason! The first and foremost one being the brilliant product quality and second the awesome pigmentation! Being a lipstick lover, I have always liked to try various shades from different brands and hardly hesitate to experiment with colors and textures and would say I no longer fear to wear nudes, bolds, vibrants and odd colors! All thanks to Illamasqua!
Also, I've always wanted to collect lipsticks from one particular brand that I could trust on and build my own collection of lipsticks for use in various occasions such as parties or photo-shoots or playing around with them simply for the fun of it!
I love Illamasqua lipsticks for their matte texture and long staying power but since these are mattes, the texture can be a bit drying on the lips, especially the lighter colors, but never the less are not as drying as most of the drugstore matte lipsticks I've tried and wearing a lip gloss over it would certainly make them less drying on the lips.

Without further delay I will start describing in detail the individual shades I am wearing in the pictures of this post.

Illamasqua Lipsticks in :-
* Submit : A nude color, gives the effect of concealer lips, a bit streaky on lips, would work well with smokey eye look, fairly pigmented. Overall liking - 3.75/5
* Bitch: A light biscuit color, nicely pigmented, not as streaky as Submit, would work well on fair to olive skin. Overall liking - 4.50/5
* Agony: A light beige color, streaky on lips, accentuated the lines on my lips, a good base needed to prevent the lipstick from cracking on the lips. Overall liking - 3.00/5
* Poison: A rich plum color, goes smooth on lips, highly pigmented. Overall liking - 4.75/5
* Growl: A deep reddish Mahogany color, highly pigmented, goes smoothly on lips. Overall liking - 4.25/5
* Diablo: A dark wine red color, fairly pigmented, not true to the color on the bullet, goes on smoothly. Overall liking - 4.00/5

Illamasqua lipsticks are priced at £15 and available at the Illamasqua website, Saphora, ASOS and Debenhams

Tip- Make sure to exfoliate your lips and use a good lip balm underneath the Illamasqua lipsticks. These lipstick are matte and would not provide enough moisture to the lips. So if you have very dry and flaky lips then Illamasqua lipsticks are probably not for you!

So what do you feel about the Illamasqua lipsticks? Love it or Leave it?
