My take on BarryM Blushers

It's well known that Barry M, a primarily drugstore brand, has in recent times earned a lot of fame in the cosmetics world with its affordable high quality make up products and one of the reasons for it is that they simply dont compromise in the quality of their products.

I am a fan of BarryM make up products and have bought a few of them in the past. A few days back when I heard that Barry M powder Blushers were being launched I rushed to the store [superdrug this time!] to get my hands on them! I felt like an adorable bunny standing next to a crate of juicy carrots! I had to have them all! All 6 of them! So even before the next blink of my eye I bought all of them and rushed home so that I could try it on!
The BarryM blushers are SUPER pigmented and available in 6 shades:
Pink Orchid [BL1]
Rose [BL2]
Strawberry [BL3]Raspberry [BL4]
Apricot [BL5]
Terracotta [BL6]

BarryM Blushers From Left to Right: BL1, BL2, BL3, BL4, BL5, BL6

Swatches of BarryM Blushers: From Left to Right: BL1, BL2, BL3, BL4, BL5, BL6

These well pigmented blushers contain Vitamin E [a good anti-oxidant] and are priced at £4.50 each! One should be light handed while applying them as you might end up adding too much on your face and end up with a clown like face! The texture felt fine, soft, non chalky and easy to blend. Another good thing about BarryM blushers that they dont contain any shimmer or glittery bits and serve towards the true purpose of a blusher which is to add colour to the cheeks and not act as a highlighter!

A downside is the packaging! The case looks tacky, most probably due to the seemingly flimsy transparent plastic lid. Another let down was the small blush applicator brush, which I personally found to be of no practical use! If you ignore these two then you have a very good blusher which does its job perfectly!

Overall I am happy with my purchase! Previously with a modest set of blushers and desperately and quickly wanting to build my collection and also avoid spending too much time testing a whole bunch of different blusher brands and with the aim of getting my hands on a good quality well pigmented high performance blusher from a well reputed brand, I decided to go in for BarryM blushers and now feel my quest for such blushers is over [or is it? Hmm only the future will tell!]

So have any of you sweeties tried the BarryM blushers or planning to? Do let me know!

Here is a Step by Step!

MERMAID EYE LOOK

1.) Apply a primer to prime the eye. Using a white colour as a base spread onto the entire surface of your eyelid. Add a Teal colour to the inner lid and blend outwards. Use a white colour on the centre of the lid.
2.) Matt Green colour on outer lid and in the crease. Blend inward to soften the edges
3.) Make a sideways v using a Black matt colour.
4.) Blend inward, but not too far so you don't completely cover the Green.

I Thank 'Gawjus' Shifa for nominating me for these wonderful awards!
Check out her blog: http://getgawjus.blogspot.com/

I have been tagged by her to list 7 random facts about me. So here I go!

1.I love arts and crafts and related activities! Yeah baby! I love it! I especially love to paint! Portraits! Sceneries! That kind of stuff! Being doing it since I was a child and will continue doing it for as long as I can! Apart from painting I also love to create Mehndi patterns and designs and they were [and still are] very popular among my friends!

2.I love to sing and have received formal training in Indian classical music! I love singing Bollywood movie songs and you'll usually find me humming the latest Bollywood hit! I also would like to mention a very unique talent of mine! I am very good in memorising lyrics of Bollywood movie songs [also some non Bollywood as well!] and can grasp the lyrics of a song usually by hearing it just once or twice!

3.I have received formal training to be an air hostess! I learnt a lot about self grooming, dressing and make up during that time and it sure helped me a lot! I am also a trained seamstress and quite knowledgeable in the art of dress making, sewing and stitching! A few years back I used to design and stitch my own dresses and occassionally did it for friends and family as well and they were very popular among everyone! I used to receive lots of compliments from all for my creations! After coming to the UK I couldn't continue this passion of mine due to various reasons but do miss the days when I did it and sure hope to resume them in the near future! I also love to cook and like to make low calorie dishes! I also like my things to be neat and properly organised! I dont like it when things are scattered all around the house!

4.I love make up! As a child I used to love experimenting with make up! I remember when my aunt used to hide her imported lipstick from me and I managed to get my hands on it and playfully applied it all over my legs! I used to try on my mom's make up without her knowledge and she would be baffled why her makeup box had empty lipsticks and compacts! I also like to style my hair and dress attractively! As I grew up my knowledge about makeup, hairstyling and dressing increased a lot! My friends used to regularly ask me to do their makeup and hair for parties! They felt my hands had some kind of magic in them as their face transformed when I did make up on them!

5.I have a weakness for long hair and long heels! I love to have long hair on my head [its tough maintaining them though!]! I have lots of long heeled shoes and love to wear them when I go out!

6.I love nature and animals! I personally cannot stand the killing and slaughter of animals! I am a vegetarian and support vegetarianism! I also support cosmetic companies which do not test their products on animals!

7.I have a boyfriend with whom I have been in love for the past few years and hope to get married to him in the near future so wish me luck gals!

Tips for Cleaning Makeup Brushes and a Review of Manicare Brush Cleaner

It is a known fact that applying makeup on your face with an unclean makeup brush can cause considerable damage to the delicate skin. This is why I regularly wash my brushes and subsequently on using them have found a major difference in my skin. With personal experience I can tell you it is important that one should clean the brushes regularly. Also cleaning the brushes regularly ensures their longetivity and keeps them free off dirt and germs. I've been using shampoo as a makeup brush cleaner for a long time and have seen its very handy and works brilliantly. Incase you are interested in cleansing your makeup brushes, the following tips might be useful:-

1.Run the bristles of the makeup brush under warm running water [make the water flow at medium speed - neither fast or slow].
2.Apply a small amount of Brush Cleaner/mild shampoo to bristles and work up a light lather.
3.Rinse the bristles thoroughly under warm running water until the brush is rid of all of the old makeup and water leaving the brush runs out clear.
4.Gently Squeeze out any excess water and then place them on a kitchen towel or tissue paper blot out the rest of the water.
5.Place the brushes on a clean flat surface to air dry [turn them over once the top is dry so that bottom part can dry]

My Makeup Brushes :)

Now for the review part! A few days back I went to city centre and happened to visit TJ Hughes where I came across a brush cleaner from Manicare [you can find them at the beauty section over there - obviously!]. I picked up a tube and after going through product information displayed on it, decided to give it a try [the price of £3.99 was *ahem* also an important reason for me to buy it!]. On returning home I wanted to try it out but then alas! my enthusiasm flew away when I realised I had washed all of my brushes the previous day and what use is trying a brush cleaner on clean brushes! I had to wait for a few days before i could try it! Then came sunday! Yes! Sunday is makeup brush cleaner day! [Yupsy gals I clean my brushes once a week and Sunday is my chosen day for this honourable god given task!] It was also the day I could finally try out the brush cleaner on my lovely brushes! As my brushes are very precious to me I didnt want to risk cleaning all of them using the cleaner and decided to try it first on one of my less favorite brush! I cleansed the brush as per the instruction on the tube and noted the following:-

1.Immediately after cleaning and gently squeezing out the water in it I felt the bristles to be a bit softer than at times when I did the same using shampoo.
2.I air dried them for a few hours and used this brush for applying make up. The brush did feel softer and nicer than usual and make up also spread better than usual! [Hmm did the cleaner actually transform this unfavorite brush of mine into a potential favorite of mine? Only time will tell!]
3.The product information on the cleaner said this product contained alcohol and I guess its there to disinfect any germs breeding in the bristles!

Manicare Brush Cleaner

Would I buy this product again? Hmm let me think. I guess not! I still prefer using my trusty shampoo to clean my brushes and yet still am also looking for some good affordable brush cleaners in the market!

I assume some of you have tried brush cleaners and would appreciate it if you share your experiences with them and also which is your favorite brush cleaner and any bad ones out their [so that we can warn others about them!]. I also read some good reviews about Ben Nye and Mac cleaners but am yet to try them! Any replies in regard to this would be appreciated!

Well thats it for now darlings! Catch up with you all later!

Ciao!

Miss Sporty Nail Polish - Club Collection

Look at these beauties! Aren't these cute! This is my collection of Miss Sporty quick dry nail polishes. I am currently wearing Miss Sporty day and night and I like their range of colors which goes in par with the bold and bright colors trend of this season. These claim to dry in 1 minute which is sort of true if you apply just one coat but if you fancy more than 1 coat then it will take another 5 to 10 mins to dry properly. Texture is on the glossy side, without any shimmer or glitter added to it. Pigmentation wise these are good, but I find that the lighter shades need more than 2 coats to show up decently on the nails. Darker shades show up a lot nicer with just one coat.
These are priced at £1.99 per 7 ml bottle. The time when I picked them up from Boots, there was this '3 for 2' offer going on for this brand. You know I am such a sucker for bargains like this! Anyway, I bought these without even doing a swatch on my nails but for that sort of price, who cares to do so! and once i tried them on i was pleasantly surprised with the vibrancy of their colors. Now I definitely wont compare Miss Sporty to OPI or Nails Inc nail polishes but I would certainly recommend these if you are on a budget.
These are not chip resistant, as I noticed it starts to chip within 4-5 days even when I am wearing it with the Nails Inc base and top coat. I haven't worn it without the base and top coat yet and i recon these would last on my nails even shorter if I do so.
So this is my review on Miss Sporty nail polishes, I love them for their color, vibrancy and consistency and for the price you can't really go wrong! xx

OOTD-Traditional Festive Look!

I like to opt for the outfits that give me a sort of traditional look during the fest times. Recently I was invited to an Indian festival party and I chose to wear this long frilly skirt. I had such a nice time there and received compliments on my attire and looks!

I adore this bright orangish skirt, very fitting at the top and frills out in the lower region. I paired it with a stretch collar shirt from Primark and a beautiful knitwear from M&S. A huge flower pattern knitted on the top of this black knitwear which gives it a very elegant look. Accessories are fromTopshop, Debenhams and H&M. These Knee Boots are from Peacock. In this pic I am also carrying an orange 'jhola bag' that was gifted to me by a friend from India.
