Tweezerman Mascara Protector - Hit or Miss

"Why didn't they think of this before" - Thats what I felt when the Mascara Guard came out in the market, but then the sceptic in me convinced me to not try out this gimmicky tool. I did read a few reviews most which impressed while some didnt and I just ended up getting confused till I finally got my hands on the Mascara Protector from Tweezerman, a brand synonymous with expert beauty tools.
You can see a pic of the tweezerman mascara protector below:-

The following is mentioned on its packaging:-

Now for the review:-

The Mascara Protector comes in a single color and its body is built from a single mould which has a rubbery feel to it. I guess they made it that way to make it flexible to work with but I must admit it takes sometime to get used to it. I had to struggle a bit with it initially and was not very happy with it but then after a couple of trial and errors I finally managed to use it without much effort. As I havent used anything like this before I am unable to compare it with another brand and hence cannot determine its full effectiveness.

What I love about this mighty little tool is that it allows you to really get to roots of your eyelashes and that means you can get more length on them and this makes it perfect for everyone who struggles to apply mascara without creating smears on the eyelids over which you carefully applied eyeshadow. If you have shaky hands this will give you more control. Its especially good for the lower lashes, however, dont get wild if you end up with clumpy lashes while you are trying to build up the volume coz the mascara protector wont work in this department! Its main function is to protect your under and upper eye makeup from those ugly smudges while applying mascara and while getting really close to the lashes.

In the pic below I am desperately trying to make this protector work out for me lol

I tried a couple of ways of working with this protector before coming out with the best one for myself, what I noted is that if I kept my eyes closed while working on my upper lashes, I was still at the risk of getting smears on my lower eye area, but when I tried the protector on my upper lashes with my eyes half open, it was much easier for me to get to the roots and there was a much lesser chance of my mascara hitting my under eye area and leaving behind ugly black marks on my under eye skin, but be sure of wiping of the protector with a cloth/tissue before switching over to another eye AND from the upper lash to the lower lash!

It could also come handy while filling up your brows but I tend to not use it for this purpose as my brow's shape doesn't match with the curve on this mascara protector.

Now comes the question, Do I like it? Would I recommend it? Yes, I like it but for me, it does take a bit of extra time, effort and getting used to this tool while I'm applying the mascara, the fact that I started wearing mascara since when I was a teen and with time have mastered the art of applying it without smearing it here and there and on some rare events when my hands go wobbly, I take a q-tip and gently roll it over the smudged area and voila! no one knows I had a panda eye!
I think it's a great little investment if you are just starting out with mascara and certainly for shaky handed people out there who want to avoid getting smeared all over by their beloved mascara!

NOTE: The Tweezerman Mascara Protector was sent to me by the Strawberrynet.com, This is my honest opinion about the product, I am not paid to do the review.Btw, Do check out their website for their Valentine's special offers on fragnance, starting from 20th Jan 2010!

More Blog Awards and Tags!!

Hey everyone!

How have you all being doing today? Fine I hope!

Today's post is related to Tags and awards and its not the first one by me as some of you know I have posted a few before! I do it now and then mainly because I consider it a matter of honour to be acknowledged by fellow bloggers and these posts are simply a dedication to those lovely people who have supported me and helped me to enrich my capabilities as a beauty blogger!

So without any further delay, I start out with the colour tag which was passed to me by the lovely and cherubic Witoxicity (I know I'm so late in doing this tag, anyway, better late then never!)

My favourite colour is RED, ofcourse! I love the intensity of this colour! Its such a bold and statement making colour! Apart from red I also love black, yellow, teal, white, peach, baby pink and sky blue. I love to play with different colours as it brings out the artist in me and boy oh boy colours do play a major role in enhancing my mood!

As per the tag rules I have to feature seven items that I own in my choice of colour, so below are the seven things in RED that I absolutely adore:-

Pro Hair Dryer 3200 watts! its Red:) My long hair loves it!

BarryM Khol Pencil, I use it as a lip pencil :P

Earrings from Top Shop! Shooo cute!

Nails Inc Red Nail Polish, A must-have colour in my polish collection!

Matrix Hair Spray(Extra Strong Hold) A great styling tool to control hair!

Red Sandals with tie back ribbons, from Next, Ooo La La!

NARS cream blush in Cactus Flower, my new found love, remember?!

Next is the Happy 101 tag! The ravashing Lizzard of Product Junkie tagged me this time!

I am required to post 7 things that makes me happy, so here is my list of things that makes me happy from inside and outside!

1. My family! They certainly deserve to be mentioned as they make me a happy bunny!
2. Praying to God and helping the old, needy and poor people, bringing a smile on people's face by saying something nice to them and offering a kind and sympathetic ear to their problems and trying to help them by finding a solution to their problems.
3. Nice makeup and jewellery, gorgeous outfits, lovely food and good romantic epic movies! we girls are from Venus, arent we!
4. A good intense massage for atleast 30 minutes followed by a 10 minute relaxing one helps tone me up, release toxins, blockages from my body and mind! Feels like heaven to tell you the truth! I also love it when someone gives a deep massage to my scalp and hair and rinse it! I tell you Its a great feeling! Having long hair I struggle to take care of it [sometimes I feel tempted to get rid of me locks] and appreciate it when someone gives me a helping hand! I just cant say no!
5. Shopping and hunting for bargains!
6. I love to maintain my house and buy beautiful things for it and this gives me a sense of pride and satisfaction!
7. Last but not the least, its blogging and Receiving awards and generous compliments from lovely people from the blogging world perks me up and makes up my day! Honestly!

I've been simultaneously given the 'Naute Mess' award by lovely and sweet co-bloggers Divija Reddy and Mara and the 'Gorgeous Blogger' award, also by Mara! Both of the awards need me to state 7 things about me and as I have already done a similar tag with 7 random facts about me you can check it out HERE! [I doubt some of you who already went through will want to do it again as its a torturous experience! hehe!]

Lastly but not the least I have also been tagged by the gorgeous Helen of Beauty Scribbler for 3 lovely awards and a colour tag! Oh my! I am feeling super lucky now! Thank you Helen and by the way I love reading your blog!

These are: 'I love your Blog' award, 'One Lovely Blog' Award, 'You Are a Doll' Award. The colour tag is the same as the one above (the Red colour tag).

For the "You're a Doll" award, I need to answer the question "What character from a book/movie are you most like?"

Well, I remember the character of Rose [Kate Winslet] in the movie Titanic! she plays a gorgeous rich girl who wants to break loose from the pressures and hypocrisy of the High society and live life like a free bird! A gorgeous character from a timeless story!

Now its the turn to tag and nominate a few blogs I enjoy reading immensely! Its true that all of us put 100% into our respective blogs and to name a few would be unfair to the rest of the beauty blogs whom I equally enjoy reading, but sometimes I like to follow the rules than to break free! So here I nominate a few from my list of bloggers for these awards and tags:

A Product Junkie
Beauty Scribbler
Cheezz12345
Delhi's Beauty Addict
Desiigirl87
Divija Reddy
Get Gawjus!
Itsura
Witoxicity
Xphoebelinax

...And I fell In Love with NARS Cream Blush!...

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Everybody!

So how have all you being doing today? And how is the weather at your side? Hot/Warm/Cold/Chilling/Freezing? Over here in the UK its freezing "Oh my God" kinda weather!

Anyways enough of all of that icy talk and lets shift gear to something hot and happening! Yes darlings! I am talking about my new found love - the NARS CREAM BLUSH! As many of you are aware, a few days back I received some gifts from Strawberrynet.com and one of them was the NARS cream blush in Cactus Flower and today I am going to review it.

NARS, is a globally well known brand and they dont need any introduction, as the name says it all! Their products are made with state of the art technology and the same can be said about their packaging as well! You feel very special when you open their products and use them! NARS products are used by amateurs to professionals and suit very dark to pale skins! They have a wide range of colors, some which are pretty wearable shades and some which are absolutely stunning! I have tried a few NARS products myself and freely admit I am in love with all of them! The quality of their products is fantastic and everyone of them has certainly lived upto my expectations!

Here is what NARS has to say about the cream blusher:- "Moisture-rich cream finish formula that provides smooth, silky color for naturally luminous skin. Delivers long-lasting color with a velvety texture and blends easily for healthy glowing skin. Provides a sheer, flush of color for all skin tones. Creates a silky-smooth texture for easy blending. Enriched with Vitamin E."

As you can see the Cactus flower is a gorgeous reddish pink color with suspended golden iridescent particles! NARS cream blush gives depth and a 3-dimensional finish to the region you apply it on and it gorgeously lights up your face and helps create a beautiful reddish flush like appearance to the skin [similar to the 'Just worked out' look].Its texture feels light and creamy and certainly not gloopy or sticky on skin. This blush stays on for a long time without fading or changing color and doesnt leave my cheeks oily either! And a bonus and certainly important feature of NARS cream blush is that these are well pigmented and a little is more than enough on you! I also tried this blusher on my lips and gave it a subtle colour. The cream blush can also be used for those 'make up less' days to add little bit of color here and there!

A downside of NARS cream blush is it doesnt come with a blusher brush and you need to use your fingers to dig into it and use it. If you are a hygiene freak then you better use a good blusher brush specifically made for cream blushers! Another downside of this blush is that since its a cream blusher it has a shorter shelf life than powder blushes! In terms of pricing it certainly is on the higher side (£18) and you need to save some extra cash for this goody from NARS but then its worth every penny you pay for!

I sure hope my review about NARS cream blush was useful and saying which I take leave now!

Thanks for coming and do drop in again!

A Very Sweet Surprise from Strawberrynet.com

Hello Everyone!

Christmas and New year just went by! It was the time of joy and happiness and also giving and receiving gifts. I gave gifts to near and dear ones and also received some as well! Its said that its better to give than receive something and this applies to gifts as well. I do feel happy when I give gifts and at the same time also feel happy when someone gifts me something. All of us are hard working people in real life striving to achieve something and leave our mark in this world and one does appreciate it when your efforts are acknowledged by someone.

A few days back I received an email from a representative of Strawberrynet.com, who read the blog I posted about Strawberrynet.com and was so pleased about my review of their company that they sent me, as a token of their appreciation and as a Christmas and New year's Gift, a box of goodies filled with some great cosmetic products! To tell you the truth I was very happy to receive them and it indeed was a very sweet surprise from them to me! I received the goods within seven days of it being shipped from Hongkong. They arrived in very good condition. All of the items were packed in a sturdy white colored cardboard box and each item in it was individually gift wrapped and covered with bubble wrap and for extra protection thermocol board and thermocol noodles were placed so that the goods dont get damaged during transit or handling. The fact that all of these goods arrived all the way from Hongkong, in pristine condition and without any damage in them was really a very joyful surprise to me. I have received a few goods from outside UK and most of the time they used to arrive with some minor damage or the other and I used to hate it when I receive some expensive cosmetic with damages on them and you had to then run behind the company for a replacement and end up wasting your time. So I would like to thank strawberrynet.com and their representatives for sending me these goodies in a short span of time without any damages to them.

Below you can see a picture of the goods I received and the box in which it arrived.

Given below is a list of the goods I received from them:-

a."ULTA" Mate Stila set:-The box contained the following items:- 'Best of Stila' Ulta Mate Stila 8-Piece Set: 1 Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF15 50ml in Shade 01, 1 Convertible Color Dual Lip & Cheek Cream [2.2g] in Peony, 3x Shimmer Eyeshadows [2.6g] in Go Lightly, Wheat, Mystic, 1 Ultra Shimmer Eyeshadow [2.6g] Kitten, 1 Major Lash Mascara [5g] in Black, 1 Lip Glaze [2.4ml] in Ulta Mate Pink .

b.Benefit She Laq:- 5pieces set - She Laq Magical MakeUp Sealer for Eyes, Lips & Brows ( 1 Clear Liquid Seal 15ml + 4 Brushes)

c.Prescriptives - Color and shine lip set:- 2 Lip Glosses [3ml] + 2 Lip Colors [4g], 2 Moonbeam Reflective Glosses [3ml] in 12 Comet and 03 Stellar colors,2 Colorscope Lipcolors [4g] in 15 First Crush Blushe r and 21 Posh Ginger R/O color.

d.NARS Cream Blush in cactus flower

e.Tweezerman Mascara Protector:- A Mascara guard.

In the coming days I will be individually testing each of the goods I received and write a review about them [come on girls, what do we beauty bloggers do best? Review them ofcourse], so expect to see them very soon.

I am sure most of you would want to wait for my reviews and then take a decision before going for them or not, but then I would like to mention that some of the items I mentioned are available under special offers or limited edition packs and I dont know how long they might be available at strawberrynet.com. So if any of you want to try them then you can go ahead as all of these items are from very reputed companies and are also very popular and I am sure all of them are good in their own way. By the way strawberrynet.com is offering extra special discount on make up and fragnance and free gifts for new customers! I suggest you grab them HERE while it lasts.

I would like to once again make it clear that I am not representating strawberrynet.com in anyway and neither have they paid me any money. The goods were sent by them by their own free will and it had no motivatory factor in my writing this post or the previous post about strawberrynet

Well thats it for now my sweeties!

Expect my reviews in the coming days!

Till then have lots of fun [as girls just wanna have fun!!]
