Virgin Vie Colour Book Lips

HELLO. Recently I dug into my new Virgin Vie Colour Book Lips which I received as a present from a friend and So far I've been liking this palette a lot...

Virgin Vie Colour Book Lips

The Colour Book Lips features a total of 20 Lip colors which are seperated into 4 rows based on 4 varieties of textures, all of which are nicely packed into a palette form!

Virgin Vie Colour Book Lips

Moisture Kiss Lipstick- These go on very sheer, just like lipglosses/glazes. These colors give a nice glossy appearence to the lips.
Sensational Colour Lipstick- I love the color payoff of all the lipsticks in this row! They go on smoothly and creamy on the lips and are well pigmented.
Clearly Brilliant Lipstick- TThese lipsticks are quite sheer and contain a bit of shimmer into them to add an extra bit of shine on the lips.
Pure Radiance Lipstick- Absolutely gorgeous pearlescent lipsticks! The lipsticks are a little bit pearly and go on quite creamy and pigmented on the lips

Virgin Vie Colour Book Lips

The packaging is nice and sleek. However, the size of this Colour book is quite big, which makes it inconvenient to carry while travelling.... BUT I love the size of these lipsticks which are quite HUGE.

Look how pretty these lipsticks look...
Virgin Vie Colour Book Lips

SOME SWATCHES- Now, it was not easy for me to swatch and click all 20 lipsticks in a single post so I chose 4 random colors from each seperate catagory so that you can have an idea of how they look on the lips.

JUICY SENSATION

RAZZMATAZZ

CHAMPAGNE TRUFFLE
Virgin Vie Colour Book Lips-CHAMPAGNE TRUFFLE

MY THOUGHTS- The colors in this palette are all very pretty. They are light on the lips and the payoff is more like a gloss in my opinion. On my lips the colors are not super pigmented but they feel great and have a nice payoff! I also just recently happened to find out that the Virgin Vie Colour Book Lips also sold at Ebay so if you are planning to buy or gift someone a nice lip palette on a budget price then definitely check them out :)

My Verdict On the Sleek Primer Palette

Hey all!
Sleek MakeUP recently added a new and permanent member to their Palettes - the I-Divine Primer Palette (RRP £6.99)!

Sleek I-Divine Primer Palette

Most of the colours in this palette are bright, shimmery and opaque while some are duo cromes (white, silver)! A let down was the limited shade selection (no orange, yellow or bright green) and lack of mattes. Texture wise, it's quite creamy and not greasy or gloopy. These can be applied with fingers but a synthetic brush makes it easy to blend and build up colour but I suggest to not use the crappy brush that this palette comes with as it's not right for the cream colors - I threw mine into the bin :P!

Sleek I-Divine Primer Palette - Swatches
Due to a printing error the names of shades in the palette card dont match the colour they refer to - eg. the green shade is named Peach :0 !
My Verdict - As its been marketed as a 'Primer' Palette, I expect it to do the basic job of priming the eyes, such as bring out the vibrancy and shine of eyeshadows and prevent them from creasing on the eyelid. But when I tested them against my beloved Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP), I was somehow not convinced that these are as good a 'base' as the UDPP, well, I mean if you check out the textures of both these primers then you'll know what I am saying!
The Smear Test: On my hand, I applied a green shade from my Sleek palette (without any base underneath), then on top of a Sleek Primer, and then on top of UDPP. I clicked the pic below just to show you that the Sleek Primer failed to hold the Sleek eyeshadow on its place once I gave it a good rub while the UDPP did a great job of holding it.

Sleek I-Divine Primer Palette - Smear Test

Next, I used a blue eyeshadow from a different brand to test it and find out if the Sleek primer works differently for non -Sleek shadows.
Sleek I-Divine Primer Palette - Smear Test

Even this time the results were the same! Sleek Palette could not live upto the smear test.
Sleek I-Divine Primer Palette - Smear Test

I would like to add here that the Sleek Primer Palette would definitely see some use by me If I am trying to bring out the vibrancy and shine of my less-pigmented eyeshadows but otherwise it is just not what I would reach for if I want my eyeshadow to stay in place and not crease or smear on my eyes. I might use it as a cream eyeshadow but would do so only after dusting it with a bit of powder on top to prevent creasing or, use a good base underneath. I feel that this palette would have been a sure-shot hit if it was rather pitched as a 'Cream' shadow palette by Sleek...

So any of you planning to try out the the I-Divine Primer Palette or already done? Feel free to share your views in regard to it!

Some V-Day Treats!!

Hey all! I hope all of you are having a great weekend! Valentine's Day just went by and as I fix my eyes on all the pressies from my bf for V-day, my heart melts like a marshmallow and I just can't stop saying to myself that love and cupid are still very much in the air and making my world go round!
Now when I think of v-day, the first thing that comes to my mind is ...obviously my bf! But its kinda hard for me to have a perfect V-day without a bunch of Red Roses which I just love and the thought of throwing them away once they dry up makes me feel sad as I really wish I could cherish them forever! It's very hard for me to let go of something that made me feel so special! And this is why I think my bf got me a hand-crafted enamel Red Rose Brooch on that day! As he knows real roses will dry up and wither away but not this one! Now isnt that cute on his part to do so?
Handmade Enamel Rose Brooch

Roses and perfumes have worked their charm on me every single time! So this time even, there was no exception! He got me not one, but two perfumes to win my heart over! Umbro Girl Sport Exotic and Outspoken by Fergie of Black Eyed Peas.
Perfumes- Umbro Girl Sport Exotic and Outspoken by Fergie

Love them both! though I'll give Outspoken a few extra brownie points for its lovely bottle & packaging. The scent reminds me of the sweet parma violets and is a nice mix of musk, bit of a splash of fruit and a tiny bit sweet scent, definitely more of a night time perfume for me.

Being a hard core makeup junkie, I am always in for some makeup related treats!! You know I just can't say NO to makeup! ha ha! So I took the opportunity and dropped him a hint as to what I want for V-day!;) And He got the hint right and got me this GoRgEoUs looking Diamond Drops Precious Compact Powder by Lancaster in Shade 002. Look at this tiny little compact! Its RED.... its Love!

The powder has a shimmery texture to it and leaves a nice sheen on the skin. Ah! My eyes are glued on the swarovski crystal that's sitting beautifully in the centre of this super gorgeous looking powder compact, it's just Ah-mazing!

Happy Valentine's day + NOTD, EOTD & a ring made by me!

Today, the 14th of February, is Valentine's Day! A day to share with one and all the most beautiful thing - Love! So I wish all of my lovely and sweet readers a Very Happy Valentine's Day and I hope all of you have day filled with lots and lots of fun and joy! Me on my part will be spending it with my loved ones and hope to make it one of the happiest days ever!

As a dedication for this day I created special V-day nails, an eyelook and a handmade ring!

Let me start of with the nails - I painted my nails with the classic Red nail polish from Nail's Inc and then added a couple of blue and yellow rhinetones on top to make them look a little bit more flashy. I dabble in nail art and it's not my forte so please excuse my somewhat messy looking nail art digits! So there it is folks the NOTD for Valentine's day!

Next the Eyelook - I wanted to keep it simple and sober but at the same time didn't want to look like a plain jane so added a bit of definition to my eyes by lining my upper lids with a black eyeliner and filling in my brows and also decided to give my eyes an extra oomph for the V-day by adding a little bit of golden glitter on the middle lid.

Finally the ring I made - Girls, I am so estatic about my new ring! it's the first ever handmade ring created by me, for myself, for the special day! I have never before created any piece of jewellery in my entire life so this ring is special for me in every way and I'm so glad that I'll be wearing it on this day!

So Guys and Gals what are your plans for Valentine's Day? Feel free to share them here!

Mighty Little Tools For Hair and Makeup

Hey all!
Today I am going tell you all about tools that have earned a permanent place in my daily makeup and haircare routine!
I'll start with some makeup brushes!
I just love my ELF flat top brush as its a perfect brush for blush, powder and foundation! Its an all rounder brush that works brilliantly for applying liquid and powder makeup, it's soft and very dense and gives a flawless finish everytime! Another flat top brush that I love is a mini version of my ELF brush, from eBay and it works fab on the smaller areas of my face as its a dense brush made with synthetic fibres and I always carry it while travelling.

Next, the Heated eyelash curler from Cermen. I use this curler after applying mascara, it's heat comes through almost instantly and curls my lashes brilliantly. They are very safe to use and make a huge difference to the look of my lashes. I've had these for five years and it still works. With this, there is no squeezing or clamping of lashes as it happens with conventional metallic ones.
Cermen Heated eyelash curler

Curling your hair with heated hair curlers can damage your hair in the long run, especially using them every day as the intense heat from them would eventually rob the moisture from hair and make them look dry and frizzy. This is why I've been looking around for some heat free alternatives to hair curlers as I tend to curl my hair a lot and this is what I ended up buying from those bargain stores! They are flexible rubbery tubes and you are supposed to wrap your hair around them and lock the ends together in shape of a loop, now these wont give you an instant curl effect but if you have had them for a while then you'll end up with lovely curly hair!
Hair Flexi Rods

This is a handy little back-combing hair brush that I got from TK Maxx and I've been using it for ages to back comb my hair. I reach for this brush whenever I want instant volume in my hair. I'm always able to do nice 'poof' hair styles when I use this brush! This brush has firm bristles which lift the hair up but at sametime don't feel harsh on the hair or scalp. So if you are into a lot of back combing and all those volume boosting things then I would say this is a must-have tool for hair!

After having done with my beloved Batiste Dry shampoo in Blush, I wanted to try out the other variations of the Batiste dry shampoo so I ended up buying the Tropical one and after having used it for a week I am now loving it more than my previous Blush one! It smells divine and is a hair saver for bad hair days!

So these were a few of my picks of some useful tools for Hair and Makeup!

So what are your daily haircare and makeup tools/gadgets? Feel free to share them if you can!

Grimas Water Makeup Palette 'A' and 'B' and An Introduction To Face Painting!

I am a big fan of Grimas Products! Grimas as some of you might know is a Dutch based company developing and producing Make up for professional and hobby segment, and are the leading European manufacturer of stage makeup and face painting products.

For a longtime I've been searching for professional quality eyeshadow palettes that are super pigmented, easy to blend, cost effective, easy to carry around with a wide variety of colours to choose and my search ended when I heard about Grimas from famous Youtube Gurus and Make Up artists who collectively give Grimas a stamp of approval, I had to try them out for myself and now I'm very pleased to do so!

I am now the proud owner of lots of Grimas eyeshadow/rouge palettes which I truly adore and freely admit they're some of the BEST eyeshadows I've ever used (a review coming soon!).

Now after successfully trying out their eyeshadow palettes I wanted to know more about about this brand and decided to try out their Water Makeup Palettes 'A' and 'B'.

There are two types available - Basic water type and Pearl (for a pearly/shimmery finish) - of which I ordered the former from Facepaint UK.

Grimas Water Makeup Palettes

There are two trays of 24 colours A and B palette combined, very useful for starting out as a Face painter.
Palette A contains 2.5ml of 12 standard colours you could not face paint without: 001,201,301,401,505,101,502,402,601,701,702,1001.

Palette B also contains 2.5ml of 12 essential colours that you would need in your kit. Colors Include: 103,203,302,303,407,508,501,503,504,1004,1040,1075.

Grimas Water based makeup are semi-soft, water activated makeup and need very little water (literally two drops will be enough) to attain a creamy consistency. They are mainly used for face and body painting and can also be used as eyeshadow bases for bold and vibrant looks. To apply the colour, you would need some good quality rounded/ flat brushes like these:

Art Brushes
Art Brush Set

You'll also need Stipple sponges for applying on larger areas of skin. Stipple sponges are not the regular makeup sponges! they are open cell sponges which you use especially for water based makeup.

As a beginner as far as face painting is concerned and also venturing into the area of creative makeup techniques, I had to practise a few strokes and get used to these before actually getting to doing it on my face.
I used my Grimas Water Makeup palettes for the flower pattern around my eyes in my Fantasy Christmassy Look - not bad for a first time painting job, right?

Apart from the water based makeup I also ordered a mixing palette from the website as I knew it will come handy while mixing various aqua colours to create different shades.

Onto some swatches:

L to R: Grimas Water Makeup Palette A and B

These colors are super pigmented and once dry they do not rub/smear off, however, be cautious while using them as if applied too much of the colour, it may bleed and if that happens, you'll need to wipe that off with a damp cloth to remove the excess stuff. These colours can be easily removed using soap and water. You'll also need to master the art of using right amount of water as if you put excess water into them, it can make the colour look watery and end up on the skin with a patchy finish!

Overall these palettes get a huge thumbs up from me! If you are into creative makeup and face painting then I seriously recommend Grimas Water Makeup Palette 'A' and 'B'!

So have any of you tried them or planning to? Feel free to share your views about them!
